I have new work to show and a new group to show with. Thank you to the Corvallis Abstractionist Group for including me in this year’s exhibit at the Corvallis Museum.

I look forward to bringing back my community canvas project at the Artist Reception. It was one of my favorite things to do at the gallery on Saturday Market or parade days. I’ll have a canvas for anyone present to come and make a mark on. It will be given to the Museum at the end of the event.
Here’s a preview of some of my new work that will be a part of the exhibit.

I have finally created an online gallery that can provide printing and shipping of my digital images and copies of a selection of my original paintings. I chose to work with Pictorem. They provide many materials and sizing options for prints and handle the shipping. Please try out the site and send me feedback. I hope the quality of prints and service will be up to the high standards I’m expecting.
Three years, many exhibits and solo events, First Friday openings, date night paint nights, individual and group classes, curbside collaborative paintings, dozens of local artists featured, and the studio space to explore my own variety of mediums. . . . . my crow’s feet and grey hair have developed well here in this space. It was a grand adventure. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you to everyone that has participated in any way. I have enjoyed sharing a cup of tea, talking art, poetry, sports, cars and politics. Thank you for your responses to my works in progress and completed compositions. I have loved meeting local artists and showcasing the variety of sculpture, jewelry, decorative and fine art created by them. Thank you.

June is my final month as The Crow’s Foot Gallery and I am pleased to have that be a student art exhibit.
May’s Exhibit benefits the Exotic Bird Rescue of Oregon, featuring a variety of artists all within a bird theme.
“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” —Pablo Picasso
“The primary benefit of practicing any art, whether well or badly, is that it enables one’s soul to grow.” —Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“The true purpose of arts education is to create more complete human beings who are critical thinkers, who have curious minds, who can lead productive lives.” —Kelly Pollock
“Creativity is allowing oneself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” — Scott Adams
Art Pieces need to be hand delivered to the gallery, ready to hang or display.
Submissions will be accepted during regular working hours up to June 1st.
All Art Pieces that do not sell need to be picked up no later than 6pm, June 29th.
These are the final few months at the gallery. It’s been a good adventure. The timing wasn’t great and I enjoy making art much more than maintaining a business with all the marketing, media, accounting and building expenses. I hope to see art become stronger in our community and I will continue to find ways to support other artists and encourage the development and expression of young artists.
I’m pleased to feature the paintings of Bill Shumway and wood sculpture of David Pilotte.

Chad Robert Collofello is the featured artist at The Crow’s Foot in March. The gallery will be hung with his collection of paintings titled “Interspatial”. His contemporary style of portraits illustrates an interesting contemplation of people’s interaction with nature through time and space. Beyond the actual images, Chad’s process is significant. He reuses and recycles materials as much as possible. He blends all of his tints and shades from three basic colors. You can see his training in printmaking and design in his strong compositions. He has a distinct style and perspective expressed through a stimulating visual narrative that I am please to feature in the gallery. I look forward to discussing responses to his images.
Mio Streitberger is a favorite artist and person of mine. His passing has left a hole. I have loved surrounding myself with his paintings, etchings, carvings, sculpture and sketches this month. I will continue to show pieces from his vast collection of works. Catalogues are available at the gallery. I am happy to connect you to Mio works in the future.
The Crow’s Foot Gallery will be hosting Mio and Nolan Streitberger at the beginning of their art exhibit. The Streitberger Familie collection will be on display through September 26th, but Friday will be your chance to meet the artists. The exhibit consists of figurative art in paintings, sketches, wood block prints, photographs, and sculpture.
Social distancing and masks will be observed, refreshments will be offered, and art and rare socializing opportunities provided.
The timely subject matter in Chad Collofello’s paintings makes them an especially welcome addition to the gallery. I appreciate his use of color and shape, attention to detail, and skill at conveying his message through his creative portraits.
So, I expected many bumps and surprises in the first year of owning my own business and reaching out into the local art community. To say that the last 12 months have been a learning experience is an understatement of epic proportions. So many times I sat back and thought, “All I wanted was some studio space to create…. how did I end up here??” Hopefully I can fulfill my expanded vision of a valuable art gallery, showing more local artists, making more of a difference through community outreach, sharing and encouraging art at every level, increasing the appreciation and desire for art. I won’t be building an online shop. I have never liked buying art online and don’t want to become an online dealer. So I will continue to be here at the gallery and studio painting, doing encaustics, teaching classes, and selling art from a variety of local artists.
Thank you to all the patrons who have come in to chat, shared your perspectives on art and life, taken classes with me, given your encouragement and support, and generally made it a pleasure to come in to work during the last year since I opened The Crow’s Foot Gallery in June 2019. I love being surrounded with art in so many mediums. Paintings, photography, sculpture, wood, stone, pottery, metal, concrete, art that can be touched and manipulated and played with, art that can be worn… so many beautiful ideas created by skilled hands and minds. I love it. And I’ve loved seeing when someone connects with a certain piece of art and wants to take it home with them. I enjoy creating my own art in my work space and getting feedback as they take shape. I have really loved the challenges extended through custom pieces requested.
I am finally feeling awake and energized after sinking in isolation while closed for Covid-19. Thank you to my friends and fellow artists who have stayed in contact and given encouragement. I have new works from multiple artists on display and will be working up some ideas for showings and events that keep public safety in mind. More than ever, I feel art is essential to well-being. It can be a vital means of communication and expression, helping us connect mentally and emotionally when we are required to keep our physical distance.
Thanks again. I hope to see you, talk to you, and/or write to you soon.

I’ll be honest. Shutting down the shop in March, right as I was finishing my pieces for my first solo show in the gallery hit me really hard. I sank. I am not a fan of online art shopping and didn’t have the energy to try to redo my business model. I hunkered down, determined to be a good sport and wait, supporting the vulnerable population, doing my part to minimize exposure. I reverted to the stay-at-home mom mode, trying to find and encourage fun and learning. Listening to the news and seeing others’ energy and creativity in isolation just sunk me lower. I ended up just baking too much and watching way too many movies. I slept most of the time the kids were with their dad.
But I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary in the gallery. It has been my lifeline and my joy. I am excited to resurface and rediscover my passion, to find inspiration and pleasure in the interactions with artists and patrons.
I believe art is about truth and vulnerability, discovery and expression. In that light, I’d like to share a poem I wrote one morning (actually closer to noon) as I was searching for the motivation to get out of bed. I’m happy for the people that have been able to continue to work, that have thrived and found the quiet and solitude rejuvenating. But I want to share the truth of my experience as well…
I can’t believe I forgot to update the website and post my solo show at the gallery!
March is my month to feature all the work I’ve been making during the past year. I have loved exploring paint, photography, encaustics, and the blending of all three. On top of the fun different processes, add the exploration and discovery I’ve had in my travels and in my new life experiences. I have enjoyed learning about different places and people and discovering new talents and interests in myself as I’ve opened the gallery and got my studio up and working.
Come visit me at the gallery and we can discuss whatever comes to mind as you view my work.
